If you had to invest in one company (besides HUL) for 10 years, which company would you choose and why?
I would like to invest in Oji Holdings Corporation, Japan. The sheer number of diverse products that the company manufactures with prime focus on quality is what amazes me most. The sustainable manufacturing practices are having an impact across all the continents through its massive 86 production sites. The company’s strong focus on research and development has led to the development of world’s first CNF (cellulose Nano-fibre), touted to bring a significant change in the way humans use products. A global corporation working towards improving the lives of many people, using world class technology, will help build a better today and a brighter tomorrow. Hence, I believe every penny of my investment will go in the right hands and for the right cause.
If you had absolute political power over India for one day, what would you do?
If I had absolute political power for one day, I would like to take the following actions:
- Grant autonomy to India’s premier institutions in terms of faculty recruitment both from domestic and international resources. Also, promote centres for research and development by way of incentives. This would not only help India become a global education hub but also foster greater academic abilities thereby ensuring better functioning and economic prowess.
- Abolish caste based reservation system. While upliftment of unprivileged sections is important, the current criteria followed for the same is not efficient. I would change the criteria from caste based to economic based. That is merit would be the sole criteria for advancement whereas economic help would be provided by the government to those unable to afford the amenities.
Add anything about yourself which would be helpful way of amplification or comment
My undergraduate degree has helped me in widening my perspectives about seeing a situation. The concoction of economics and philosophy helped me better understand Bhutan’s gross national happiness; business studies and philosophy helped me grasp the idea of business ethics. Having stood second in my undergraduate degree, I bear a deep respect for HUL’s vision of sustainable growth and intense sense of social purpose.
