SUMMARY
When Sally arrived in Singapore Airport, the Business Class Lounge was empty with only one staff working on the front check. Sally’s flight was delayed due to the thick fog which caused her to miss her connecting flight to Delhi, India. Since there is four hours to wait, Sally thought she could use the time to finish up her sales report so that when she arrive in Delhi, she only need to add the update sales figure when she connect to email. Sally Palmer was the up-to-date version of the travelling salesman where she had been just 2 years as Marketing Manager Position where she was being in charge of selling medical equipment for a US firm even though she was hired by, and reported to the Australian subsidiary. She was the only female out of four other sales representatives which require frequent travel to various countries with the main tasks of maintaining good relationships with current distributors or getting new ones, making presentations or arranging for demonstrations of medical products to potential and current client in hospital. Bill Burton is the head of the Australian subsidiary who responsible for the Asian Region and also Middle East markets. As for Sally, she was in charge for Hong Kong, Indonesia and Indian markets. Bill was disregard the stresses of the living style of an international sales representative imposed forced on the individual. No training or cultural awareness was provided as the only compromise that Bill seemed to make where Sally was concerned was his parting comment if he is in Australia when Sally was getting ready for her another international sales trip: Keep safe, Ducky’. However, Sally thinks that just because of herself being the only female, she was not hoping to receive any exceptional treatment from her colleagues.
