With changing times and technology, Marketing has become much more difficult than it was in the past. The traditional marketing has become less effective in present days and most marketing personnel has switched to Content marketing. But, most of the content marketers fail to understand why Content marketing and what are they achieving and fall in the trap of using old ways. In this article, the author Greg Satell poses few questions that helps Content Marketers to devise a viable strategy that would allow them to think about what experience they are trying to deliver and what value they are offering as an exchange to their consumers.
The author suggests content marketers to understand why their brand turned to content instead of traditional marketing. Content marketing shouldn’t be a mere replacement of traditional marketing. A content marketer should seriously think about what he is trying to achieve with content marketing. Content marketers to be clear of what value they are offering to their consumers. The content should deliver a value and consumers should treat it as an exchange of value rather than a mere interruption. The content should offer experience to customers that grabs their attention and builds a long term relationship with the brand.
Content marketing efforts are open ended and may run for few years when compared to traditional marketing which has a defined beginning and end. So, it is important to create an anchor for the concept through which marketers can create a consistent experience for audience. It is with this anchor we can hold customers attention for long time. Content marketing emphasizes more on creating experiences than crafting messages. It needs to hold audience attention with its own merits and delivering experience that audience can relate to, remember for long and value.
