Introduction
This 2020 work force executive report I have prepared is about Wal-Mart. They plan to strengthen relevance with customers, drive innovation and build talent by using the power of inclusion and diversity. Because Wal-Mart has a diverse consumer it makes them a better organization. They support the core values of the organization and have respect for all individuals. Wal-Mart has been challenged on all levels because they conduct business globally. They have been successful in countries that are diverse because of their values, management practices and philosophies.
The organizational structure at Wal-Mart is a hierarchy structure. There are two features, function based and hierarchy. The function based within the company involves the employees as a group that can fulfill certain functions that include human resource management, information technology, and marketing. The hierarchy within the company includes authority, and command. The corporate managers must be able to influence everyone within the organization. All of the strategies and policies that corporate headquarters implement is passed down from the regional managers to store managers. There is a downside to their structure such as there is not enough support for the organizations flexibility, and lower levels of the structure can’t adjust to the business practices, because the approval process and the communication process is very lengthy. (Lombardo, 2017)
The work force diversity at Wal-Mart is one of the best. The management position was an issue they solved by hiring more people of color and promoted more women in the management position. Wal-Mart believes they are equipped in helping communities, customers, and associate because they help they respect and understand along with valuing diversity such as identities, unique styles, opinions, ideas and experiences that are inclusive of everyone. (Wal-Mart, 2017)
The market and customer diversity start with their belief of service to customers, respecting individuals, and act with integrity by striving for excellence. All stores even global ones believe everyday actions which include habits and individual behaviors aren’t just feel good exercises its their organizational practice. They make sure everyone is welcome and they can contribute. The great work environment for employees allows them to do great work. They believe innovation and creativity starts there and they will exceed the expectations of the consumers for the years to come. To have a diverse workforce they believe they have an inclusive environment and talented employees that allows them to be the best. (Wal-Mart, 2014)
