Chad Hurley, Steve Chen and Jawad Karim, the inventor of a popular media sharing website–You Tube–may advocate to such saying when considering the social impact, You Tube have contributed to the globe. You Tube has been a game changer which revolutionize universal social network, daily beliefs and living quality. The changes will be elaborated in the essay followed with the factors that contributed to its success in the past and ever since.
You Tube, a free platform to share truth and intriguing values, has brought net surfers to a well-informed generation. Information and knowledge have always come with a cost and seldom narrowed one’s sight and acknowledgement. Recently, in Hong Kong, the soaring price of tuition fees can further elaborate this point as the educational expense per kindergarten pupil has raisen 29%, which is almost $10000 more than the original expense(Chan,2015). Salman Khan, the founder of non-profit educational organization–Khan Academy, has objected to such phenomena and suggest that free education can be free of charge and innovative. Khan Academy uploads mini-lectures videos, linked with exercises and quizs in order to facilitate students to thoroughly comprehend knowledge; while, You Tube has make Khan’s saying positive (O’Neill,2010).
The accessibility of worldwide information on You Tube was a hammer which leaded to a breakthrough in news blackout, making it a unique social website that stood out. It appears that professional reporters are often restricted due to the rules and guidelines. Citizen journalism become a prominent source of information in such circumstances as it reveal the reality of the situation which is masked by the government. During the protest against Iran election,Ms.Neda Agha-Soltan was murdered .Coincidently, it was filmed and uploaded to one of the social media website–You Tube–that bypass the Iran’s Internet filter (Stelter,2010). Followed by thousands of views, lots of heat was generated. This video separated the fact from opinions, allowing citizen to judge the severity of the issue by their own eyes. You Tube brought the countries one step closer to each other while merging boundaries between one and others and it was the moment only a few websites were capable of doing it.
