Alice Kent

My name is Alice Kent, and this is the story of how I died. I was a US special forces operative in Iran. Our mission was to infiltrate and destroy a chemical weapons factory owned by terrorist group known as the IEG. The factory was located in northern Iran in a highly secluded area surrounded by mountains. I was in charge of a five-person squad: John a large African American man that always seems to be able to see the funny side of things. Moe, our tech specialist that is abnormally gifted with a computer. Ryan, our sharpshooter who seemed to always remain calm, even in the worst situations. And Sam our combat specialist who could bring down the biggest of opponents with her bare hands. Then there was me, an average sized blond that was gifted in military strategy. Or so I was told.

We were deployed on an early Friday morning from a U.S. airbase in Iraq. The mission was going perfectly. We successfully infiltrated the facility and located the chemical weaponry. We began to place explosives inside the facility. I had my doubts on the reasoning behind blowing up the facility but orders were orders. We were nearly finished when a squad of Iranian Extremists Group or IEG rushed the room lead by Malia Kubar. A high profile target and top of the U.S. kill list. Responsible for more than 20 attacks against U.S. embassies across the world. My team engaged in heavy conflict with the IEG while I pursued after Malia. I confronted her on railing hanging high above the chemicals where my team was fighting the IEG. Both Malia and I held each other at gunpoint. Knowing that that we were at a standstill both of us dropped our weapons and engaged in hand to hand combat until I made a wrong move that allowed Malia to pick up the sidearm I had dropped and fired three shots into my unprotected chest. Everything went cold and the force from the bullets sent me over the rails, plummeting fifty feet into a container full of the experimental chemicals we were sent to destroy. Everything went dark I felt nothing. There was just an empty feeling radiating throughout my body. But then nothing turned into everything. My entire life flashed before my eyes and saw my family. My kids. My husband. What would they do without me?

I woke up confused at what had just happened and surrounded by ruble of what was once the facility that my team had been sent to destroy; which by the looks of seemed to be successful. I had no idea if my team was alive, dead or captured. But I needed to find out.

I was surrounded by rubble and I needed to get out if I was going to have any chance of surviving and finding my team. I pushed up on the slab of concrete that was hanging over me and to my surprise it lifted with ease as if it were made of Styrofoam. When I finally reached the surface I found that the entire facility had in fact been destroyed and reduced to nothing but rubble. I began to walk in the direction of what I had hoped would be the nearest town. I walked for two days across rough terrain before I found a town. When I got to the town I met some locals who fed me and gave me place to stay for the night. I was woken the next day by the sounds of shouting and gunfire. I quickly looked out the window and saw the IEG had entered the town and were taking the children and loading them into a truck. Realizing that this was my best chance at finding out if my team was alive I snuck over and hopped into the back of one of the trucks and hid amongst the children. The truck drove for about an hour before it finally came to a stop. Under the cover of nightfall, I slipped out from behind the truck and ran cover of a nearby tree, but when I began to run to the tree I noticed that I could move much faster than I was able to before. In the blink of an eye I began to neutralize IEG members throughout the facility until I found my team. They were all chained up hanging from the top of the celling with a bullet hole in each of their heads. I felt an overwhelming rage throughout my body and then everything went dark again. When I woke up I was standing amongst the destruction of the base I had just infiltrated. Amongst the destruction I could see bodies of IEG and children that they had taken. I look down at my hands covered in blood and the mangled body of Malia Kubar lying beneath my feet. What had I done? What had I become?
