• Patrick Bateman is the Protagonist
• He enjoys killing for pleasure  
• He takes these pills to clam himself down
• Patrick works on Wall street seems like and average working man but what really is going through his mind all day is murder and killing people
• When Patrick is talking he makes jokes about killing people and how he’s going to kill him, but no one believes him because his friends and family all think he’s too kind and too goody
• The way he describes himself in the novel was very self conceited, he said he had a posh skin, perfect figure and mind like no one else

• “...There is an idea of a Patrick Bateman, some kind of abstraction, but there is no real me, only an entity, something illusory, and though I can hide my cold gaze and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable: I simply am not there.” 

• Patrick has confessed to his crimes many times but either no one heard him or they don’t believe such a kind person can do that.
• Patrick always observes everyone around him but he doesn’t say much for example in the dinner scene at Evelyn’s house he saw that his friend Tim was flirting with his Fiancé Evelyn and might even being having an affair  
• Luis Carruthers is in love with Patrick even thought his dating Courtney
• Paul Owen a fellow employee and his has coveted account at work
• Paul is mistaken when he sees Patrick and thinks he’s some other guy named Marcus and Patrick is going with what he’s saying and pretending to be Marcus
• Patrick is trying to get information out of Owen, but he cant so he might kill him

• “I have to return some videotapes”

• He said this a couple of times in the novel whenever he needed to lie about something
• When he said to the investigator that he wasn’t with Paul the night he disappeared, but he was “returning video tapes”
• Paul Owen is in “London” is what everyone knows
• Patrick is starting to kill more he killed one of his close friends from College, Bethany
