Religion paper
Due Date 2/23/17
Upon writing this paper I have done my studies and research on two religions which is the Native American religion and the protestant liberal. I think that these two religions best suite my knowledge and also I choose these two religions to help further my knowledge on them, being that I am Native American and I would like to know how the older generation believed and how it’s different from how we believe today. My next religion that I will compare and contrast is protestant liberal, for one of the main reasons because from hearing about his religion in class it interested in it from the start, and also the interesting German background that it comes from.
Coming from the long background that the liberal protestants have and the beliefs they have interest me from the get go. There many beliefs and ways that they have such as the way they see Jesus and the way that they think the bible should be read. Many liberal protestants believe that the Bible should be read in a historical context with the primary focus on Jesus, just like other protestants believe that there are more broader interpretations. A good point that I am trying to make like the book of ‘’ A New Kind Christianity’’ and the author that wrote it Brain Mclaren. He tries to make the point of that God can make different points to different people based of their situation that they are going through or based on their specific moral or belief. Another one of the many reasons whys its considered a very liberal religion is because of the many people of this same religion that have their different perspectives, such as Marcus Borg who dismisses the body resurrection of Jesus on earth, he seems to think that the Easter holiday. These liberal Protestants really have emphases on being liberal individuals; such has believing gay rights are okay and also being pro-life. A lot of things that they believe in no other religion would even consider okay they would automatically condemn a person straight to hell for the same acts that liberal group of people would be okay with. Some of these Protestants tend to shy away from a sin just to stay away from commitment of being a decent person.
