Abstract

     A boyfriend-girlfriend relationship on campus greatly influences the quality of their life together and the quality of their student experience. The influence of a boyfriend/girlfriend can be both positive and negative. On the positive side, the boyfriend-girlfriend relationship on campus is allowing students to be in a healthy relationship, it is a great achievement, greater self-esteem. It is also helping them to study harder and experience success in school, and it is an also great motivator. A boyfriend or girlfriend is a great mental and emotional support for the student as they cope with the school and work. This relationship is easy to maintain but never getting old. It also helps students choosing their right partner in the long run. This kind of relationship though motivates students’ mind to gain good grade, it causes many social problems. But they are so lower in the number that they can be almost ignored. Eventually I’ll say it’s better to have boyfriend/girlfriend on campus.

Introduction

     University plays a vital role in a student’s life. It is at this time that students make decisions about their course taking and future educational and career plans. It is also a time when they look for someone very special to come into their life. Hence, they started to get involved in relationship with their classmates or university mates. The influence of a boyfriend and girlfriend can be both positive and negative. On the positive side, it can serve as an important incentive for students to perform well in class. On the negative side, boyfriend or girlfriend’s influence can lead to discipline problem, taking away valuable time, falling of grades and delinquent behaviors both inside and outside school. So there is always a correlation between a student’s boyfriend or girlfriend relationship and his or her academic performance as well as other social activities. That is my research topic. I’ll find out what people think about boyfriend-girlfriend relationship on the same campus and then I’ll compare their thoughts with my opinion.

     I’m personally very much interested in this topic because I have a lot of friends who are involved in this kind of relationship. I’ve seen people are affected greatly by their boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. Some see it as beneficial factor as they say they get to see their boyfriend or girlfriend everyday, they can study together and help each other in class to do well and it is not really too much expensive to date on campus. There are also some other people who see it as a disadvantageous factor as the jealousy comes out if anyone does better on exams than his girlfriend or her boyfriend. So based on their comments, I choose to be in the support for boyfriend-girlfriend relationship on the campus and I’ll be discussing about different factors of this relationship and how it benefits students. My thesis is having boyfriend/girlfriend at NSU though motivates students’ minds to gain good grade, it causes many social problems.
