Throughout the book Chappie looks for the person to be his role model. Someone who he can look up to. In his life Chappie has both female positive and negative influences. One of them being his mom, she starts out as being the positive mom she is. Meaning she looks out for her son no matter what. Towards the beginning of the book Chappie was stealing Victoria Secrets clothing items and got caught. His mom stood by his side even though what he did was wrong. “Then she said, If you will march in there and say you’re sorry and say that you’ll come home with us and stay away from the mall, I think they’ll forget about the shoplifting. Although the mom was positive in Chappie’s life in the beginning of the book she turned out to be a negative side because she drove him to go to Jamaica when he never came back.
