Bright Idea Journal
As I spent the last 10 days actually recording my thoughts or ideas, I realized a couple of self-truths that I wanted to bring light to in order for me to improve of the go deeper in my creative thinking process. The first self-truth that was revealed to me was that even when told to keep track of my though process, I just was not good at it. I would be in random thought and forget to record. The other truth was that I often thought of things and didn’t record them based on their value to me or others. It was understood to not judge your own thoughts, but in many cases I couldn’t help it.
In day one of keeping the journal I felt good about the journey. I started off quickly with random ideas that were centered on things I wanted to implement in my church youth group. The ideas were items like an outdoor youth rally and some innovated activities that could be done that would attract people to come out and support. By the time I was a the mid-day point I had over 20 ideas flowing effortlessly, and I kept the ideas housed either on my notebook or created OneNote Journal on my computer (since I am at work so much). By day four, I noticed I wasn’t recording ideas at the same speed as I had begun. I also began to review my previous ideas, attempting to not allow them repeat what was already thought of. After day seven, I realized that not acknowledging those reoccurring ideas did cause them to sail away into the night by any means. Instead, the realized that those ideas were the nearest to my heart and were ones I had the desire to act upon. This was huge and how I was able to come to the realization of the self-truths that I revealed. These were ideas and plans that helped fuel my passion. More than 60 percent of my ideas were about youth ministry or music. That gives me life and think about way to improve or share in those areas daily.
