6 years ago, it was my first time to watch my junior high school cousin play the shooting computer game “Counter-Strike”. I watched his character in the game adroitly dodge, and remembered what he told me” I practice being vigilant for enemies.” However, violent games did not had a bad effect on him, I look him growing healthy and positive.

And today, the article “Violent Media is Good for Kids”, from Gerard Jones give a similar view point of how violent Media can be helpful during children’s growth. The author use his own experience at the beginning as an example to tell us a story about how a little boy built a bridge from not being allowed to have violent comic books to getting power from those books, and became a fiction author. He bound his fear and desires in his mind, but the superheroes stories were like a seed put in his mind. The dream and strong power blooms like a flower.

Jones uses himself as a positive example to tell people that children can get good influence from violent books. After that, when Jones realized that schools and parents do not know benefits of violent media to students, Moore and he started their research. He tried to find methods, which adults can use to help their kids in the right way and do not need to worry about their children when they get in touch with violent media.

The majority of those violent games or books contain some type of violent content. However, that does not mean all violent media are bad and that children will only develop bad habits. While most scientists are convinced that children can learn aggressive behavior from violent media, I want to also point out that violent media can help children in positive ways. The more important things is what adults should do, which is teach children find what they can learn and how they can learn from violent media.

There are better ways to discipline child for parents than always saying "no." Especially, Parents should stop saying “do not do that” to children when they watch violent media is. In contrast, we can tell our kids that they could learn from that, which means instead of deny them, we can teach children they can use that. “Pretending to have superhuman powers helps children conquer the feeling of powerlessness,” writers Gerard Jones from his essay give us an example of children can get power from their superheroes. Take myself as an instance. One movie, which I really like called “Transformers” tells a story about Autobots protect the Earth from the Decepticons. Although there are a lot of fight scenes in the movie, but I can learn a lot from this violent movie. “Optimus Prime” has great ability to lead team and courage to sacrifice, which gave me a lesson about how to be a leader; “Bumblebee” often volunteers for missions where his small size is an asset, and always stands behind his human friends that taught me never give up with your friends.
