Criminal profile: Miami city.

Miami city is situated in the southern part of Florida in the United States in the larger North American continent. It was founded in 1836 and since then the city has grown into a large cosmopolitan with a visible evidences of ethnic diversity. Its favorable sunny climate and natural beauty makes it a tourist destination besides being a major trading center in the United States. With all the beauty and the goodies that a city can attribute itself too, Miami city is however known as being among the major crime infests cities in the United States of America. Many have done research on the reason for this but ended up with a major course which is the growth from a large scale flight to a Sub-urban city. According to the world facts, Miami is ranked among the countries with the highest crime rates of crime in the United States of America. For this reason this paper aims at analyzing the criminal profile of Miami City.

Social and intellectual characteristics of the city

As at 2016, the population of the city is approximated to be 441,003 people with diverse ethnicity. In percentage the diversity is expressed as follows; 72.6% Whites, 19.2% African Americans, 1.0% Asian, 0.3% Native Americans and 8.5% other races. It is a city with diverse culture where the inhabitants speak English, Spanish, Hebrew or other languages. Despite the diversities, the city has various social sites from whence people meet in the process of taking their daily duties. This includes hotels, cafes, and cultural centers. As a social city Miami has various parks and recreation centers, sports centers and tourism destinations.

According to Pew Social and Demographic trends, there is however a big difference between the haves and the have-nots in this city. Based on the statistics, Miami is composed of 34% low income earners, 46% middle income earners and 20% high income earners. From the fore mentioned only a very small portion of the society in Miami can fully sustain themselves as far are meeting the daily individuals needs are concerned. The rich in the social class are however getting richer as the middle income earners shrinks and grow poorer.

Education has been giving a chance in Miami and for this reason the authority has and is working tirelessly in ensuring that education is made accessible to all. There are various learning institutions in the city ranging from magnet school programs, charter schools and also the satellite learning centers. The level of education among the residents is however not so notable as majority of the students drop out of schools before the completion period. With this trend each generation inherits a “no need for school attitude” instead engage themselves into other social evils.
