When my brother Kyle moved to Steamboat, Colorado I knew i wanted to visit, but I didn't know when. So when the day came I got the call telling me to come visit i was very excited. My brother worked on the ski resort there which is one of the biggest and nicest in the country, he said we would be doing a lot of snowboarding. I invited a few friends and the trip was planned.
The night before the trip I was too excited to sleep and stayed up almost all night. I woke up on a cold December morning, and me and my two friends were off to the airport. When we boarded the plane I let my friend sit next to the window because he had never been on a plane before. He stared out the window in amazement the entire plane ride. He was most intrigued by the patterns of the farmers fields and the long windy roads. I remember looking down over the snow covered mountains and from the view of the plane the mountains looked just like they do on a globe.
We finally landed in Steamboat and stepped off the plane. It was cold out but not South Dakota cold, it was a nice, comfortable cold. The air was fresh and perfect white snow blanketed everything. In every direction stood huge, snowy mountains. Coming from South Dakota it was amazing to me to look off into the distance and see tall mountains instead of flat land.
My brother picked us up and we headed straight to the mountain to start snowboarding. I stood at the bottom of the mountain tightly wrapped in winter gear, holding my heavy snowboard and stared up in amazement. The size of the mountain i was about to be at the top of was amazed me, and i guarantee it amazes every single person the first time they see it. The ski lift that would take us to the top went up farther and farther until it disappeared into the clouds. People skiing down were so far away they looked like little dots moving down the mountain. We spent the next four days in Steamboat snowboarding, and every morning would be a fresh layer
