Do Video Games in the Classroom Have a Good Affect on Young Children

Video games are usually known for distracting students but are now helping the academic classroom. Games are now being used to keep the students attention while learning things such as reading and math. Games are also used to help track a student's progression in each subject. Motivation for the students is another benefit for games within the classroom. There are many advantages to having academic video games in the classroom, keep students attention, track progress and motivation.
First, attention span seems to be a problem for young children within the classroom. Games that execute academic lessons in a fun way seem to keep a child’s attention for longer periods of time because they enjoy the lesson. “-in a format that holds their students interests” (Video games future of education?, 1) implies that teachers have noticed a change in their students attitudes towards lessons. Games hold a child attention better than a chalkboard because the games allow the child to really explore the activity which helps with a better understanding. All in all games make the curriculum more enjoyable for children.
Next, websites help keep track of lessons and the students achievements. Teachers struggle to keep track of all of their students assignments and progression because they have several students; some academic websites provide the teacher with a digital and more organized way of keeping track of all of their students and what they're learning which lessens the amount of stress put on teachers. “ The website tracks each student's learning accomplishments, and teachers have access to resources such as lesson plans, webinars, video tutorials, graphic organizers, and best practices — aligned to and searchable by state standards including Common Core.” ( Gaming to learn, 1) this directly says that the websites provides teachers with a clear track of each student's progression.
