Augusto Pinochet unit 1
Augusto Pinochet was a Chilean dictator; He was born on the 25th of November 1915 and died on the 10th of December 2006 he overthrew the Allende government in 1973 and took over Chile. He stayed in power until 1998. Augusto Pinochet tortured innocent people. Pinochet rounded up people and did sickening things to them. For example: He electrocuted pregnant women then threw them out onto the streets. That’s if they were lucky he didn’t kill them. Pinochet rounded up people. There were over 3000 disappearances. There were now people without fathers and mothers, even people had lost their younger children. Pinochet places soldiers out onto the streets of Chile in many towns. If someone protested they’d be taken away straight away and killed for going against what Pinochet said. Although Pinochet didn’t allow violent protests, Pinochet did allow silent protests. Mothers, daughters, wives and friends would dance alone with picture of their missing friends and families. Sting made a song called “dance alone”. He sings about the people who protested silently for their loved ones, for example mothers, daughters, widows. Augusto Pinochet allowed a silent protest and did nothing about it. The women held a photograph close to their hearts in honour of the missing and dead.

Sophie gave feedback; she said we expressed our emotions well throughout the performance. After we had performed the other group did. We liked how they used the spacing. Using characterisation all the way throughout this was when they were spaced out saying their words, creating soundscape. I really liked how they ran into the middle at the end. It was really effective and created a powerful atmosphere, the atmosphere that was created was very effective, and brought across some of very emotional feelings. After, we went into conscious ally. One side was with and one side was against. The first time I was against, I found this easier because my monolog was based on being against what Pinochet did. After the conscious ally we sat down and discussed the song dance alone. After we had given our opinion and discussed the song, through the drama medium of movement we created abstract to the song “Dance alone” By Sting. The music played in the background and created an atmospheric feeling. We used our three words and
