My name is Norton and I am glad to be one of your students! I'll be honest, English is not my forte, in fact, it is probably one of my weakest subjects. It just doesn't have that ridged quality of math and science. Which is pretty unfortunate considering I want to be an engineer. What kind of engineer can't express his ideas properly? A one about to lose his job, that's what I say! Of course, it's not like I am a complete failure at English, I do have some small strengths in the subject. My biggest one would be analysis. I can analyze any piece of writing: break it down, examine what makes it a good piece, what the author's message is, and of course, what it means. Then, I am able to merge that style of writing with mine. Okay, I'm a tad worse at breaking apart poetry, however I can take apart any other piece of writing without a hitch.

Like any subject, I can't just sit on my strengths; I always must keep improving to become successful in that subject. In English, I want to improve my vocabulary, and with this vocabulary, I will gain the ability to construct powerful and convincing arguments, communicate ideas so that they're easily understandable. This will not only help me in arguments, it will also help me create an excellent and convincing application to Washington State University, where I plan to attend for eight years to achieve a Ph.D. in Engineering and Sciences.

There is nothing more frustrating than not sending your ideas and thoughts to another person properly, which is quite unfortunate for me, as this occurs almost on a daily basis. This is why I strongly dislike poetry, it's unclear, it's fuzzy, it's just too remote. I prefer writing that is strong and clear. Where it is easy to know exactly what the author intends. I love nothing more than ideas and thoughts all being understood properly! I hope this letter is as strong and clear as I intended, as I probably mentioned, I hate
