Subject : The age at which children are allowed to work for money varies from country to country. While some people believe it is wrong, others regard it as a valuable opportunity to gain experience of the work environment.”
This is a topical subject, which is important to discuss. In fact, this is a question we have been asking ourselves for a long time. But, let’s face the fact: children or teenagers all want to get an idea of the work environment as soon as possible. However, taking part in a job spawns to be paid. Should we pay teenagers for their work? Should we be against or for? That’s we are going to discuss...
First of all, some might argue that it’s a valuable opportunity to gain experience of the work environment. Actually, It could be a good way for children or teenagers to see what’s ahead of them. The facts are that when you join the labour forces, you deserve to be paid: It’s the reward for what you’ve done. So why couldn’t teenagers be paid?
The opposite view takes into account the fact that the only motivation for teenagers who want to work is : money. All they want is just to get some money in order to have fun with it later. There is unfortunately a bit of truth in it.. In addition to that we can say that when you’re a child, you don’t need to be paid for something you’ve learnt. Before earning a living, you have to learn how to do things properly. And money mustn’t always be the counterpart. You have to realise that getting experience is prior to your financial need.
To conclude, I think it’s a good thing to allow teenagers to work for money only If they are 18. When you’re an adult, you are supposed to be mature enough to understand what working means. For instance, when I worked last summer, I was aware that working doesn’t only mean being paid at the end of the month.. It mainly built me a way of thinking.
