In order to secure the whole amount needed for the program, which includes the tuition fees (EUR 55,700) and the living costs (EUR 1,500 / month over 11 months), I opted several types of financing detailed below:
- Family support: 0%, I was counting on a financing of minimum 20% of the tuition fees from family support, but unfortunately my father, 66 years old is currently retired having spent all his retirement income on the tuition fees of me and my siblings during our undergraduate education program. My mother, 61 years old is a teacher in a government primary school earning USD 2.000, per monthstill having only 3 years for retirement barely affording the house expanses.
- Bank loan: Through a local Bank, expected to cover the remaining amount of my tuition fees (I already applied for the whole amount (EUR 44.200,) contacted 2 local banks and was granted a pre-approval on a maximum of EUR 30.000, loan because I cannot provide any security knowing that I do not own any fixed or financial asset).
- Personal savings: earning barely USD 1.700, I managed to pay the tuition fees of my master program back in my home country (loan bases) still paying till now. I could not manage to save the rest of the amount needed to pursue my MBA, therefore, I asked for the help from local and Middle Eastern associations.
- Local and Middle Eastern associations: Some well-known Lebanese and regional associations are willing to cover the living expense for Middle Eastern students who have been granted admission to a top MBA school and especially for students who intend to work in the Middle East after their graduation.
Unfortunately, I received this week a note stating the following: due to the financial crises and the striking increase in numbers of Syrian and Iraqi refugees, all associations had to focus their aid to help refugees surpass this catastrophic period.
