Write a short letter / email to Lucas Tse expressing how you feel about his choice to Deep Springs College and compare it to your feeling about being in HKUST.

Dear Lucas,

Hope things are winding down for you well and that you can relax after studying so hard. In your last letter, you mention that you want to choose Deep Springs College. As I am one of your best friend, I have some feelings to share with you.

There are several points that you have to consider before choosing the college which are the environment, quality of the degree offered and career paths of the graduates.

Deep Springs College provides so many curriculum for students to study which includes many areas such as ancient Greek, genetics and biology etc. Also, students must spend at least 20 hours a week to fulfill the extra-curriculum duties. This can make students become more independent. Environment includes the facilities provided for students to use in the campus. I know that your school have a library (20,000 volumes), a gym room, reading room and art studio etc. it's got what it matters. The location of college is in an isolated desert-mountain valley. The air is fresh and good for your health. However, there is no television, no mobile phone reception and limited internet access. You may need time to accustom to this.

The second concern is the quality of the degree offered. Deep Springs does not offer degree but it can earn academic credits. The most important thing is that most graduates end up at Ivy League schools. If your final aim is Harvard University or Yale University, this college should be a good choice.

About the career paths of the graduates in Deep Springs College, many graduates become academics and physicians. If you are interested in sciences or become a doctor, entering this college should be a suitable path for you.
