Introduction
Multitasking is now considered as one of the most common skills in today’s society. There are many reasons as to why people are multitasking everyday and anywhere they are. Multitasking is the practice of performing two or more tasks at the same time. For instance, using your phone while eating or surfing the Internet while doing your homework. However, has anyone ever thought that multitasking can have negative effects to oneself?
People multitask mainly because they want to save time, they are constantly being distracted by the multiple events that is happening simultaneously in their own surroundings or wanting to achieve a higher productivity level.
According to an online posting, get organized, multitasking is due to people wanting to save time.
Majority of the people thinks that there are too many things to be done and if they do not try to do two or more things at the same time, they might feel uncertain about being able to carry out their given tasks on time.
In addition, people multitask as they are always being distracted by the numerous events that is happening around them at the same time.
For instance, when a person starts out on a particular task, he/she might get distracted by the other tasks that could have happen and will divert their attention to it or even perform the two tasks together.
Also, from an article posted on Psychology Today, the reason as to why people multitask is because they want to achieve a higher productivity level.
In order to achieve a higher productivity level, people feel that they need to work simultaneously on more than one task. In this way, they will be able to complete more tasks in a shorter period of time.
Now that we know a few reasons as to why people multitask, let me now talk about the effects of multitasking.
