I think I was rescued when I was fourteen. During middle school, I knew the public school I was assigned to couldn’t reject my entrance and therefore didn’t give much effort to my school work. Freshman year had begun and that attitude never ceased to leave. I basically underwent school with a careless mind for about a month. I acknowledged my classes and the grades I was obtaining, but I never pushed myself. I was fine with doing average, and my grades at the time reflected that. Somehow, it was engraved into my mind that getting into a tremendous university would be a simple task. My father continuously tried to change my views. His nonstop nagging would lead to immense arguments, but he was at the same time building me up for two significant soccer games coming up. I obviously ignored his advice and focused on my training; there was no way I could go wrong. I ended up playing two of the best games of my life. Still, it was not enough.
The final whistle of the second game sounded and I tiredly walked to the bench. As I was taking off my equipment, I happened to notice a random person speaking to my coach. At the time I was so exhausted that I thought nothing of it and kept on with what I was doing. After a couple of minutes I felt a tap on my shoulder. Both my coach and the unknown person were standing in front of me. I quickly got on my feet and my coach introduced this man as the assistant coach for Stetson University. When I realized the gravity of the situation, I almost began to shiver with excitement. As a freshman I knew there was no possible way of getting scouted, but it would’ve been a fantastic start. Nevertheless, my first instincts were completely wrong.
The assistant coach and I spoke for around twenty minutes , but the conversation was based on a particular subject. The first thing he asked me was how my grades were.
