II. New York City is the largest metropolitan center in the USA. It is famous for the Statue of Liberty, Empire State building, United Nations, museums, Broadway theaters, Times Square etc.
III. New York City is located on the eastern coast of the United States about 1000 miles north of Florida and 200 miles South of Boston. It is situated at the mouth of the Hudson River, and is divided into 5 districts called boroughs. The “Big Apple” is the largest city in the USA with over 7 million residents.
V. The Statue of Liberty stands on a small island in the middle of the New York City harbor. It was a gift of international friendship from the people of France in 1876. The 46-meters tall monument stands atop of a granite pedestal above the walls of a star shaped abutment.
VI. Manhattan borough, the business and commercial center of New York City, is situated on A large island in the middle of the Hudson River.
VII. Central Park is the largest urban park in the USA. 25-million people visit the Park Each year. The variety of recreational, cultural, educational, and community events is just as Park visitors.
IX. Broadway is a big, wide avenue that runs the entire length of Manhattan Island in New York. It passes through the middle of the Theater district concentrated around Times Square and Has lent its name to those spectacular musical productions known as the Broadway play.
X. New York City and especially Manhattan Island are renown for their concentration of high-rise buildings, commonly known as “the skyscrapers”. Today, there are more than 5.000 high-rise buildings.
XI. The Empire State Building at 102 floors was once the World’s highest skyscraper. Located on Fifth Avenue at 34th Street, was built in 1931 and is 443 meters tall.
