They key issue James is facing at Sun is the lack of team unity and unstandardized communication mechanisms.
My recommendation is for James to create team cohesion by creating committee of ambassadors for each region that will be in charge with staying in constant contact with James and the other ambassadors about what is happening. This way there is a larger chain of command and these ambassadors can better focus on ensuring incidents like HS Holdings does not happen again. Standardizing the protocol of communication is also key. The protocol should be the same during weekdays/weekends because time differences in each region can cause confusion again. HR from each region should also communication with the ambassadors if issues between regions arise or hinders work flow.
The ambassadors can allow James to cut travel time
The flow of information between US, France and UAE will be more synchronized.
Standardizing communication protocol will help avoid timing issues in the future.
James will be more aware of what is happening in each region
Ambassadors know who they should contact when a problem arises (i.e. if UAE needed somethings from the France location)
Incidents like Nick's comment will be reduced with HR being more involved
Cohesion between all regions will be key for the company to continue allowing employees to work from anywhere, anytime, etc.
