This movie is about a certain violin, making its way through three centuries over several owners and countries, eventually ending up at an auction where it may find a new owner. This red violin, had been passed on from generation to generation, from one culture to another and basically, it already traveled the world.

Culture is defined as our overall way of life, including language, customs, beliefs, and the use of material things. This definition includes something called "material culture." It is the totality of learned, socially transmitted customs, knowledge, material objects, and behavior. It includes the ideas, values and artifacts of groups of people. When we talk about global culture, it means one world culture. It means that the earth’s inhabitants will lose their cultural diversity and on culture will be experienced by all people. Cultural universals on the other hand, are values or practiced shared by all human cultures. Some cultural practices may be universal but they way they are expressed varies from culture to culture. The expression of cultural universals is not the only thing that varies from one society to another, but with a society, it may also change dramatically over time. In every generation and in every year, most human cultures change, evolve and expand.

In relation to the film that we watched, cultural diversity is showed and proven. The story was set in five different locations namely: Cremona, Vienna, Oxford, Shanghai and Montreal. In the first location in Cremona, the violin was created and made by a man name Nicolo. His wife died and painted the violin with his wife’s blood. The violin was passed on to Vienna; it belonged to an orphan named Weiss. The orphan died because of a hear defect. Later it was found in Oxford where a man named Frederick Pope owned played it with talent and dignity. Soon it the violin was found in Shanghai lastly, in Montreal.
