Recent years, the world’s movie industry has witnessed unprecedented boom. Having a glimpse of the ample supply of excellent motion pictures, we audience may marvel and grateful for the efforts made by film crews. Among these popular production, serious movie and entertaining movie are the two influential types. In a sense, the latter one brings dramatically amusement to us. According to my preference, however, serious ones which can evoke deeper thoughts speak louder.

First of all, serious movie aimed at enriching people’s inner world which is the most essential goal in movie-making. Books can provide humans with food for thought, so can serious movies. For example, Murder on the Orient Express, a classic detective movie, encourages audience to find the answer before the conclusion with their logical thinking. There is no doubt that watching such a movie is like taking an unforgettable inner journey.

Second, with its social and historical background, serious movies urge people to comprehend a vast amount of knowledge. Presenting a story during the Civil War, Gone with the Wind is absolutely an outstanding serious movie. It is such a dramatic movie that depicts the social realities during that special period vividly and conveys to us.

In addition, the influences of serious movies last longer and are more easily treasured as memories. As a matter of fact, seldom do I watch funny movies more than once. What left to me is nothing but a temporary laugh. Serious movies will always contribute to fresh thoughts on the contrary.

Therefore, the merits encompassed within serious movies far outweigh those of funny movies. As long as the film industry advances toward further development, fans of serious movies are always ready to render their support.
