Should universities use blended learning approach in teaching students? Choose your stand and support it with valid evidence.
Blended learning is a formal education program which students learn and gain information and content of their course through digital and online media. It is a learning method by mixing the traditional teaching method and modern teaching method by using online media. Technological is slowly occupying and being a part of our life even in education so should universities use blended learning in teaching student? Yes, universities should use blended learning approach in teaching students.
Traditional learning like teaching in the classroom is much easier for lecturers to know more about their students as they are able to gain feedback from lecturer face to face. Lecturers are also able to observe students and evaluate them when they all able to give explanations when students do not understand. However in 90’s century, students nowadays are too quiet during the class. They do not voice out when they found out that the teaching is unclear. Lecturers are not able to read their mind when students are just sitting and give the normal faces with no feedbacks given. With this case, lecturers will just carry on and expect the students are clear on what they have taught. This is because students are too shy to ask in front of others as they might think that others will laugh at them for asking a simple question. Blended teaching method is much more suitable for students to learn. Blended learning provides students greater time flexibility and freedom. Example, students are able to working part of the time online from home. Besides, students will feel more convenience to ask questions whenever they are not understand so lecturers are able to get more feedbacks when they give explanations. In Northern Arizona Universities so called as NAU, they create a Blended Learning Leadership Team (BLLT). It is a faculty of teaching using a blended approach and to define what blended learning means in NAU campus. This results an increased in learning effectiveness and improve efficiency.
