Social Style

After taking the Social Style test, I received 30 for my assertiveness score, and 39 for my responsiveness score. According to the result, I have an amiable social style with higher responsiveness than others and lower assertiveness. Adjectives used to describe amiables are conforming, unsure, pliable, dependent, awkward, supportive, respectful, willing, dependable, and agreeable. I think the result is pretty accurate. I am a people oriented and sociable person meaning that I tend to seek security and like organized workplaces, and I prefer to be told what to do than to lead. Some other characteristics can used to describe me are good at listening and teamwork, and friendly and relate well to others.
For other’s social style, I identified my aunt. She received 42 for her assertiveness score, and 20 for her responsiveness score. According to the result, she has a driver social style with high assertiveness and low emotional response to others. Among the adjectives used to describe drivers are pushy, severe, tough, dominating, harsh, strong-willed, independent, practical, decisive, and efficient. The result is pretty accurate for her as well. She is a very competitive person who is not so worried by how others react, and has a greater concern for results.
Since my aunt has a driving social style, I changed my communication style in certain ways to when interacting with her. For instance, I tried to avoid tentative language and be as straighter forward as possible. This tip would not only help me communicated better with my aunt, who is a very impatient person, but also made our communication became much easier.
