Stereotype
How to Date a Browngirl, Blackgirl, Whitegirl or Halfie is an interesting yet awkward story that Junot Diaz wrote. This story is basically an instruction manual on how to get a girl based on her ethnicity. In fact this is a stereotyping story, which the reader shows how everyone in some point of time does perform this actions. Also, it reveals subtext of the poverty and racism faced by ‘you' of the story. I as a Latina find it hard to agree with the author at some point just because the story is so profiling. The main character is so confident that it persuades the reader to believe his theories. The way he implies how he gets ‘the ladies' in such a matter-of-fact tone that you have to come to believe if you follow his steps you will be as successful.

Diaz's story is written in second-person. Addressing the reader directly is a method performed by the author that helps understand where exactly his point of view kicks in. However, towards the end of the story Diaz gives me a feeling of disappointment because I conclude that he is speaking from experience in prejudice.
