Comparing greening concepts such as TNS and NC are evolutionary in nature. Why do some critics suggest, however, that gradual improvements are just not good enough?

The planning methodology that helps companies to focus on industrial causes rather than reacting to environmental effects is known as the natural step (TNS). TNS is about investments and measures that are selected to drive companies in a sustainable trend with maximum long-term flexibility and short-term profitability. Natural capitalism as well as TNS is an evolutionary concept relying on change in the markets and the continual quests for improvement in business, NC is a kind of new business model that connects to environmental performance. So they both help companies to move toward sustainability. Yet these gradual improvements are not enough, according to some critics this will be discussed throughout this paper.

TNS and NC are some good framework that help companies to be more sustainable, like the natural capitalist mindset suggests that environment is not a minor aspect of production, it should be considered before all. The natural capitalist mindset also suggests that the welfare of society is best served when the quality and flow of desired services delivered are improved. Also, the availability and functioning of natural resource is a key factor for future development. So if companies follow these kinds of mindsets moving toward sustainability will be easier. Some companies are putting in practice the TNS and NC framework for example Nike’s commitment to TNS they are trying to eliminate their contribution to the degradation of the environment as well as decreasing the use of unnatural resources. Through innovation goals they are achieving for example use of sustainable materials. Also they do sustainable programs like Nike Reuse A-Shoe, which create more than 250 recycled sport shoes.
