Market Description
The Fountain on Main restaurant is a unique restaurant, and the first of its kind in the Springfield area. It is a replica of the 1950’s soda shop, complete with a juke box and a soda fountain. Its target market is customers in the downtown area of Springfield Ohio.
The dining experience is a combination of food quality, ambience, and food presentation and is the consideration of commercial restaurants, making up 77 percent of the market share. Non commercial food service providers are bent towards offering good food to customers who are on a quick schedule. They make up 23 percent of the food market.
The fountain on main is in the non commercial sector of the market, and like many other food service providers, it has to innovate to remain relevant.
Products review
The fountain on main business strategy is to offer excellent meals, fast, and on a budget. Its menu is largely drinks which include sodas, and milk shakes, among grilled or toasted sandwiches, soups, chilli and pulled pork. The restaurant also serves fresh pies, cakes; baked potatoes and chicken are available on order. Other meals include toasted salads, cottage cheese served as plain or with fruit.
Competition analysis
The restaurants strategy is to offer good food at reasonable prices, have fast service, and keep friendly staff with the aim to attract and retain customers, while providing a unique environment to dine.
Marketing strategy
The restaurant has a website and face book page, where customers are kept up to date with happenings at the establishment, and give feedback. The restaurant uses these channels to market its menu, activities and communicate with customers. Other methods used to advertise are through rating websites such as tripadvisor.com, and yelp.com. Here visitors give their reviews and management can act upon these reviews to become more competitive.
