The impact of this class on my career
Business laws and intellectual property are two topics very important for any professional. People can make better decisions in their careers if they know about these subjects. I have learned many new things in this class, but agreements, types of companies, and copyrights and patents are the most important topics for me.
First of all, agreements play an important paper in a business. During my career, I have seen many coworkers that copy and save company's information, documents, and projects for personal purposes. After attending this class, I could understand that a company has to be careful on the employment agreement. It should make employees to sign an agreement to be sure that he or she is not going to disclose confidential information or any trade secret after they quit or are fired.
As an engineer I would like to open my own business. I was confused about all the types of companies before this class, but now I have learned that the best way is to open a corporation because the owner is not bound by corporate acts, and the corporation is not bound by the owner acts. Also, my personal property will be protected.
Finally, I have gotten knowledge about copyrights and patents. It is very useful because as an engineer I like to create and build new thinks. By knowing the laws and process about them, I will be able to protect any kind of invention or writing that I could create in the future. In addition to that, now I have an idea of how to get patent or copy rights.
In conclusion, I think that any professional of any field should know about laws and intellectual property because it should be helpful in any moment during her or his career.
