The media plays various roles in our society nowadays, and the importance of media is deeply impressed and has an enormous influence on every single one of us.
It is doubtless that the role of media is significant in our daily lives. One of its most obvious roles is to inform. The news report we watch every morning will inform us different information, such as weather forecast, special events and of course, reporting news from every part of the world. Sometimes, the media will also invite experts from different fields, and together they will discuss some hot issues. Moreover, financial reports are also broadcast to inform investors how the stock market is and so they can know when to invest their money, etc.
Another role of media in the 21st century is to communicate. For example, children are encouraged to use media tools in school and are expected to have a general understanding of the various technologies. The internet is one of the most significant examples in media for communication. Tools such as e-mail, MSN, Facebook etc., have brought people closer together and created new online communities.
Besides, the media also take a role of advertise and entertain in the modern society. It is very usual to see advertisements in newspaper, magazines, TV and large advertisement broad at the top of the building in these days. This is absolutely normal because everybody are able to access to the media and so the advertisements can be read by many different people and make the advertisement a successful one. In addition, the media also provide entertainment for the mass. As an example, one can enjoy his favorite TV shows through the media. He may as well watch the exciting football match or get to know the private lives of the celebrity whom he obsessed with.
In conclusion, the media nowadays may act as a tool to deliver information, to communicate, and to advertise and entertain.
