Introduction:

  1. On September 20th of 2013 I received an email from a friend of mine. It contained pictures and such phrases as:” I can’t look at the pictures without getting dizzy!”

  2. I took a look at the pictures and right away knew that I must go there. I started to search for this place to know more about it.

  3. What am I speaking about? It is one of the most visited landmarks, known as the most wonderful mountain under heaven and the most dangerous hiking trail in the world.

  4. Today I would like to inform you about (picture of Mt. Huashan) the peaks of mountain Huashan and how to get there.

Body:

  1. To begin with, mountain Hua Shan is located in a city called Huayin in China. It is formed by five peaks and each peak has its special attractions.

  1. The East Peak (picture of eat peak) is well known for the place where you can enjoy sunrise. It is also called the Immortal Palm Peak because it has a rock that looks like a giant hand with five fingers. The legend says that the Queen Mother of the West was having a celebration in paradise. By mistake she spilled wine which turned into flood that destroyed the villages on the mountain. The Emperor of paradise gave an order to his servant to go down and stop the flood. Once he arrived, he divided the mountain into two parts with his hands and then the flood stopped.

  1. The South Peak (picture of south peak) is known to have a high altitude. It is called the Landing Wild Greece Peak. It has an altitude of 2160 meters. At the top of the peak you can find a tea house (picture of the tea house), a temple (picture of the temple) and the Black Dragon Pool (picture of black dragon pool).
  1. The West peak (picture of west peak) is known for its elegance. It is known as the Lotus Flower Peak because of a huge rock that looks like a lotus flower. On top of it there is a temple called Guiyn Palace.
  1. The North Peak (picture of north peak) is known for its cloud terrace. There are cliffs on all sides of the peak which make the place look like a huge terrace in the clouds.
  1. The middle peak (picture of middle peak) is known as the Jane Maiden Peak. There is a temple on the peak called the Jade Maiden Temple. The legend says that the daughter of the king Qui Mugong (565-621 BC) fell in love with a man who plays the flute and gave up her royal life to live with him on this peak.

(TRANSITION: Now that you became familiar with Mountain Hua Shan’s five peaks, I will go on to speak about how to reach the top of those peaks.)

  1. Although mountain Hua Shan is a dangerous mountain, you can access it easily.
  1. If you’re scared of hiking you can take cable cars (picture of cable cars) and see all four peaks in one day since cable cars and hiking follow the same path. It takes around four hours in cable cars.

  1. If hiking is what you love then you will enjoy climbing this mountain.
  1. The mountain was a well-known place for practicing Chinese martial arts like kung fu. It is also an important religious place. Monks and nuns have lived in the mountain since the second century before Christ.  They established pathways to be able to reach the mountain’s five peaks.
  2. The most visited peak is the South Peak of the mountain or the Landing Wild Green Peak. At the base (picture of heavenly stairs) you have to climb the Heavenly Stairs. Then (picture of cable cars) you take a ride in cable cars. Finally you reach the cliff side path. You have to wait in line to take chess harness and two sets of carabineers (picture of chess harness)that you will need to cross this path through which you should always clip yourself to the anchor lines. First you have to go down an iron ladder(picture of iron ladder). Then you arrive to planks (picture of planks) attached to cliff side. While you move around you will find that there are no planks in some places instead you sometimes have to walk on anchor lines(picture of anchor lines). Other times you will use (picture of toe holes) toe holes hammered on the mountain. Everywhere on the trail you can see locks (picture of locks). Vendors, at the base of the mountain, sell these golden locks. Their purpose is only to give you an idea of how many people visited this mountain. You don’t have to worry about packing food and water since you can find rest stops everywhere, even on the cliff side path (picture of rest stop). Once you arrive to the top (picture of the ladder) you reach a long path like a ladder hammered on the mountain. At the end (picture of tea house) of it you find a tea house. This tea house is the reason why visitors prefer this peak because it offers china’s best tea. The tea house used to be a temple where monks and nuns used to drink tea while meditating. This is why it turned into a tea house.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, mountain Hua Shan (picture of the mountain) is one of china’s 5 sacred mountains. It is famous for its five peaks, the East peak or the immortal palm peak, the south peak or the landing wild Greece peak, the west peak also called the lotus flower peak, the north peak or the cloud terrace peak and the middle peak known as the Jane Maiden Peak; with the south peak being the most visited. Although the pathways are dangerous, they attract a lot of visitors every year.
