UCAS: Apply 2016 - Introductory Information
What is UCAS / how can I find out more about it?
All students who wish to apply for an undergraduate place at university in 2015 need to be familiar with UCAS. For introductory information about UCAS:

How to Register for UCAS
- 1. Go to the UCAS website https://www.ucas.com/ and click on [pic 1]
- Under Apply and Track, click on [pic 2] then [pic 3]
- When the [pic 4] page opens, click on the ‘register’ tab at the bottom
- Read the information on the page, and click on ‘next’
- On the page ‘Terms and conditions for the use of Apply,’ scroll down and tick the box to accept the terms and conditions, and click on ‘next’
- On the page ‘Register: Initial details,’ fill in your initial details and click on ‘next’
- On the page ‘Register: Postal address,’ answer the question ‘Where is your postal address’ by clicking next to ‘UK,’ and then click on ‘next’
- On the page ‘Register: Your postcode,’ fill in your house number/name, if known, and your postcode (n.b. your postcode should be enough for it to locate your address). Click on ‘next’ and check it gives you your correct address. You can edit it by adding other details, as appropriate
- On the page ‘Register: Personal details,’ add your telephone number (for contact here in the UK) and your email address (the one you wish to be contacted through), and confirm your email address (n.b. at the bottom you can choose whichever option you want regarding sales/commercial mailings – it doesn’t really matter for your application)
- On the page ‘Register: Security,’ you need to create a password. You will need to use this whenever you want to log in to UCAS apply, so make sure you make a note of it and store it securely somewhere. You also need to choose and put answers to four security questions – one or two of these questions may be used if you ever have to deal with UCAS Customer Services about anything to do with your application.
- On the next page you will be given your username. You will need to use this whenever you want to log in to UCAS apply, so make sure you make a note of it and store it securely somewhere.
- Click on log in now. On the page ‘Initial UCAS questions: How are you applying?,’ choose ‘Through my school/college’ and click on ‘next’
- You will be asked to enter your Buzzword. The buzzword for our Centre is ifp201516 – you must write it exactly like that with uppercase letters and no spaces (you won’t need to the buzzword again after this)
- On the next page you are asked if you are registering through Centre for Language and Foundation Studies (or ‘Language Centre’), University of Bristol. Choose ‘yes’ and click on ‘next.’
- You will be given your UCAS Personal ID number. Make a note of it.
- To complete the registration process you need to verify your email address. Click on ‘Please click here to verify your email address,’ and then go to the email address you used in your registration. You will have received a message from UCAS. In this email you will find a ‘verification code.’ Copy this code into the box at the bottom of the UCAS registration page (scroll right down), and click on ‘verify email’
