The United States-Mexico border is the international border between United States and Mexico. It is built to prevent illegal immigrants from Mexico to cross to the United States. Photographs taken along this border give out the depressing situation for people who are about to cross the border or standing along the border. Before this border was built, certain places used to be a friendship places where people from United States could meet with people from Mexico. Can you imagine how great it was? Now, it is so sad to see a lot of innocent people struggling to get into the States to meet their loved one. As shown in one of the photographs, ”Crime has been the top concern for Mexicans thinking of heading north.” (“In Crossing the Border, the Risks Are More Grave”), I can't imagine how dangerous it is for them if they tryied to cross the border.
The fence that goes along in one of the photographs (“Night Watch on the Mexican Border”) somehow showed that it is like a neverending border that separates these two countries. On this photograph, it seems like the American and Mexican side are the same. It is just separated by the fence but the landscape, road, and trees are alike. The love from a family is the warmest love that ever exist (is the strongest?). From the first picture in the slideshow “Friendships at the Border”, we can see that through the hole of the fence, Jacqueline Herta, the aunt, is trying to touch her niece. From the caption, we can see that her niece is only 4-month-old which is still so cute and adorable. How depressing it is to be isolated she was from her charming niece. Rosalie Martinez, Jacqueline’s sister, was looking forward to meet her sister face to face without being blocked by the fence with a big smile on her face. Although Jacqueline should refrain from the pain because of the sharp wire that jab her forearm, she gave out her placid smile to indicate how joyful she was to finally meet her niece. Her happiness has overwhelmed her pain. I guess it would be delightful if she could carry her niece on her hand. Moreover, I am assuming that the wind was blowing quite high, and yet they still spare their time to meet at the border. The fuzzy blanket that Yisell, the niece, used demonstrate
