What Causes Other People to Bully Other People?

Have you ever been bullied, and wonder why they bully is doing this to you? Over the years bullying has become a major issue in society. Bullying is the strength or influence to intimidate someone, usually to force them to do what they want. There are many types of bullying; from cyberbullying, to physical and verbal bullying. Bullying also ranges in different ages from adults bullying children to children bullying adults or each other. Everyone wants to stop bullying, but the best way to stop bullying is to figure out what causes people to bully others.
Bullies intimidate other people for many reasons, one of those reasons could be from what they observe at home. For example, during my first week of kindergarten, I’ve never been so excited to start my first day. All I could think about was meeting new friends, and learning new things. My elementary school was in bayside, so there were mostly caucasian kids in the school and a handful of African American kids. My mom sent me to school there because it was a good school district. When I first got to school I was a little nervous and shy, because I didn’t know anyone, so through out the day I was alone. After lunch we went back to the classroom and had playtime, when the teacher said we could go off and play I was so excited to play with my new classmates. I decided to play in the play kitchen with some other girls, we were having a good time until one girl with brown hair cut short, in pink tights and a t-shirt came over and yelled to everyone, pointing at me, “NO ONE PLAY WITH HER, SHE’S BLACK!”
I was so confused, I didn’t understand what she meant, when I turned around everyone was leaving. All I could do was cry, I couldn’t understand what was wrong with me. I went from feeling like I was floating on the clouds to feeling like I was falling from the sky. As a five year old, you are oblivious to real life issues going on around you. In your eyes everything is butterflies and rainbows. What would cause a five year old to say something like that? Kids act and do what they see people do around them.
