Why Education is important!
Have you ever waited at a stop light, looked out of your window and saw a homeless person begging for scraps of food? Do you know what it is like for a single mother to be forced to work two jobs, in order to put food on the table for her kids? Do you know what it is like for a sick man to be turned away because he can't afford health insurance? There are many limitations in life, but one of the biggest setbacks in life is trying to approach success without an education. That is why I feel pursuing my major in accounting is very important.
Education is the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, generally to prepare oneself, according to Webster's Dictionary. Acquiring knowledge is necessary in order to gain the treasure that life has to offer. I am not saying that it is impossible to become successful without a college education; however you are very limited from many jobs. In today's society it is important to have some type of college education or degree in order to obtain a good paying job with benefits. I was born and raised in a small town called Cedar Lake, Texas. I have witnessed many hard working, independent people who have had to work twice as hard since they never received a college education. I decided I wanted to major in accounting because in high school I took a record keeping class and it became my favorite class. I have always liked math and managing money, so I decided that accounting was a perfect fit for me. My goals are to become a successful business and accounting professional. I would like to continue school so I can obtain my masters degree, and work towards becoming a certified public accountant. In the future I plan to open my own accounting firm where I can have my own successful business and charge affordable prices.
