Absolute Rulers

In Europe they lived by Absolute Rulers. An absolute ruler is a king or queen with unlimited power and seeks control of all aspects of society. Two absolute rulers that were very similar were KIng Louis XIV and Tokugawa Shoguns. They were very similar because they both controlled Religious beliefs, limited and controlled the power of the nobles and made and enforced the laws.
Absolute rulers control the power of the Nobles. King Louis XIV controlled the power of the nobles by executing them from his council. King Louis XIV also took them from their homes and took them to his palace so that they would be totally dependant of him. Tokugawa Shoguns also controlled the power of the nobles by using the attendance system. The attendance system is a system used on the nobles, they spend a certain amount of time in their homes and then a certain amount of time in Edo so that they wouldn’t gain too much power.
Absolute Rulers controlled religious beliefs. King Louis XIV controlled religious beliefs by becoming the Leader of the catholic church, Therefore he had total power of the Religious beliefs of all those around him. Tokugawa Shoguns controlled religious beliefs Ordering christians to leave Japan. Also Tokugawa Ieyasu made a law banning christianity.(document 3)
Absolute Rulers make laws. King Louis XIV Increased taxes just to use the money to increase his power. Tokugawa shoguns created a law saying that no Japanese was allowed to go to other countries, if he tries to do so secretly, he must be executed(document 4). Another law that states that any southern barbarians who reach Christianity or other crimes they will be sent to jail (Document 4)
In conclusion Absolute rulers have complete control of the citizens of their country. King Louis XIV and Tokugawa Shoguns
