Colombian Exchange

The most interesting thing about the finding of the new world is the Colombian exchange. The Colombian exchange is one of the most important things that happened in the “New World”. It didn’t only affect the Americas, it affected the whole world. It saved Europe, they were on the brink of survival until Christopher Columbus sailed west to find a new trade route to India. He wound up docked in the Caribbean islands. Columbus finding the “New World” also led to finding a new culture too, the Native Americans. Their way of life differed from the West Africans and the Europeans.
The Native Americans believe that land can’t be owned or sold. They believed that land belonged to everyone and can’t be owned by one man. They lived together in big groups called clans. Their clans consisted kinship and kinship ties. Kinship is family, Kinship ties are family friends. The Native Americans lived very peaceful lives. They didn’t fight with each other they believed in peace and equality. Native American religion were spiritual practices, traditional ceremonial ways can vary. They are based on differing histories and beliefs of certain tribes, clans and bands. The highest authority was their chief. They weren’t in to mining very much but they did hunt and farm.
The Europeans view of land was very different from the Native Americans. They believe that land is power. The kings would own all land but have little power. The King would grant their Nobles fiefs (estate of land) in exchange for protection for the king and ransom if any of the royalty family ever got kidnapped. The nobles would train nights and vassals to build an army, then there were merchants, farmers, and craftsmen would live on the nobles land in exchange for money that they will make and crops.
