1. Well the origins of our language to the date did come from Indo-Europeans. A lot of words that they used are still used to this day. Pronouns such as he or she are were used back then. Other words such as and, or, and as were all used also. The english language was germanic as also along with German, Dutch and French.
2. “Ubi sunt” literally meant “where are”. So throughout Anglo-Saxon poetry, Ubi Sunt was used a lot with a poem such as “The Wanderer”. There are certain terms that can be used as an “Ubi Sunt” and which a poet would use a lot that would make something so simple be yet so deep at the same time. These phrases would either fly right over your head and hit you like a train with the meaning of itself.
3. This poem reminds me a lot of a women who just sounds very depressed with her life. She also seems to find out that her husband is wanting a divorce from her and he kill her on the inside. she says in the beginning “I make this song about me full sadly”. This line means that she is full with sadness as if she has had to much sadness and cannot handle it anymore. I may be wrong but at the end it sounds to me as if she committed suicide or she left and now her husband has to live in grieve for the rest of his life.
