JFK’s Assassination

John F. Kennedy was born into a wealthy family, become a military hero, and won the presidential election in 1960 along with becoming the 35th president at 43 and was the youngest man along with the first Roman Catholic to hold the presidency ("John F. Kennedy", 2015).

 John F. Kennedy was elected among tensions during the Cold War while replenishing individual’s ambitions for public service and stipulating assistance in the civil rights movement ("John F. Kennedy", 2015).

Marilyn Monroe

Norma Jeane Mortenson who is known as Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1, 1926 in Los Angeles, California.

“Her first movie role was a small part in “The Shocking Miss Pilgrim” in 1947” ("Marilyn Monroe", 2015). She performed multiple supportive roles until 1950 when “The Asphalt Jungle” delivered a significant role.

The Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938

President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed bills 121 into law creating the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) of 1938. The FLSA is a historical bill that eliminated child labor, began minimal wage, and the maximum workweek of 44 hours ("Fair Labor Standards Act Of 1938: Maximum Struggle For A Minimum Wage", 2015).

The FLSA was FDR’S attempt to establish consent treatment of the American work force. Employees where guaranteed a shorter workweek and a minimum gage.

The Equal Pay Act of 1963

“The Equal Pay Act, signed in to law by President John F. Kennedy on June 10, 1963” ("Equal Pay Act Of 1963", 2015). This act was established to eliminate discrimination of pay between men and women for performing the same type of work and was signed into law on June 10, 1963.

The Equal Pay Act of 1963 progressed women’s pay and improved treatment within the workplace. These improvements allowed women to help better provide for their families while improving their stance in society.

The Peace Corps

“The Peace Corps was established by executive order on March 1, 1961” ("Peace Corps", 2015). The Peace Corp began during the cold war because President Kennedy knew the Soviet Union’s program establishment and the United States (US) had no program established. Kennedy wanted to establish the US as a country of democracy, peace, development, and freedom on the global stage.

Peace Corp work to establish trust within the communities they serve. Volunteers work in multiple fields to help individuals progress forward with an improved life.
