1. I was placed in the Bottom group. We as a group had to decide upon how to use the money collected and let our middle management know about the possible ways we plan to use it. This was further communicated to the top management who eventually had to take a financial decision. The two alternatives that were stressed upon were whether to donate the money for the relief fund for Japan’s massive earthquake do a pizza party or return the money back to the contributors. I was in favor of donating the money for relief fund.
2. We followed a democratic approach or a voting system to exercise our powers. Different opinions were presented to the group representatives and votes were casted in favor/against these opinions. I feel it was a valid approach since it gave satisfaction to larger number of people in the group. It worked out well. I was satisfied with the amount of power my group had. We were given a chance to interact with other members in the group that had different plans and after that interaction we came up with a mutual consensus.
3. If the group really works hard to take a valid decision that maximizes satisfaction across people, it can act dominantly exercise power and influence other groups. Unity is really very important.
4. To exercise effective leadership, a leader has to be calm, composed, influential, vocal and confident. By this way, he/she is able to express thoughts across the group clearly.
5. I am fine if some other alternative is chosen over my opinion unless it makes general sense. Otherwise, I am against to barbaric use of power and in favor of power that is helpful to everybody in every way or the other. I normally try my best to stay calm and composed in uncertain situations and start to think of solutions to curb uncertainties.
