Only ruling England for two years, King Richard III boastfully stands out to be one of the most known kings in the history of England. Why was he such a person of interest? But what makes his life and death so interesting? King Richard III, born in England on October 2, 1452 was the youngest son of the third Duke of York. In his early years of life, Richard's family encountered many battles at which his father, brother, and uncles lost their lives to. Later after having the throne of the king passed on the others such as King Edward IV and Edward V, Richard was appointed king after young Edward parent's marriage was declared invalid. Richard was then crowned king on July 6. There had been a huge controversy that Richard had his nephews killed to have an easy and clean slate to conquer the throne. After some time of holding the title of king for quite some time, Richard led his military fleet to Leicester to attempt to defeat Henry Tudor. Unfortunately, being the last English king, King Richard III was killed in battle on August 22, 1485. After his death, his remains were transported to Leicester Grey Friars to be buried. Many centuries later, his "speculated" body was dug up by anthropologists who were intrigued to learn more about the life and death of King Richard III. Lead archaeologist, Richard Buckley reported "our academic conclusion, beyond reasonable doubt is that the individual exhumed at Grey Friars in September 2012 is indeed Richard III, the last Plantagenet king of England." To prove that the remains were those of King Richard III, the execution of forensic anthropology came into play. With numerous techniques used to determine the identity of the body, the most prominent the delicate analysis of the remains treatment and location were all taken into place. Although it could not be genetically proven that the remains belong to King Richard III, genetic samples were taken from the family of the King Richard III, to try to determine who their DNA matches that of King Richard's.
