What caused the London riots?
Between the 6th and the 10th of August 2011, several of cities and owns across England suffered widespread rioting, looting and arson where thousands took to the streets. Mark Duggan a 29 year old black man, wanted for gun crimes was shot dead by local police officers on the 4th of August. Police failed to inform Marks family about his death and due to those circumstances Marks imedent family got together and formed a peaceful protest, which then turned into complete anarchy when police turned up to disperse the demonstration. During this process a 16 year old girl, who police claimed was brandishing a bottle, was pushed and allegedly punched by several police officers.
What is anarchy?
In the United States, the term “anarchy” typically is referred to when a society is without a publicly enforced government or violently enforced political authority. The word is from the Greek language, it means without leader.
What can happen to cause anarchy?
Anarchy can be caused from a lot of things. It can be caused when society is without a publicly enforced government or violently enforced political authority. It can be when theirs complete absence of rules and regulations
What can be done to manage or respond to riots?
Since the 1980s riot control officers have been using less lethal weapons such as tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets and teasers to disperse the demonstration/protest. I believe if the government and political matters were discussed more openly and citizens of the nation had more of a say to come up with an agreement, we would have less of a conflict.
