Unit management system combined with inmate classifications help to ensure security and proper custody. It has proven to be effective, but because the inmate population continues to grow, correction officers are unable to prevent every casualty from happening and in some cases lockdown is necessary. There is lockdown in facilities to keep inmates safe when correctional officers receive substantial information of a possible strike or uprising.
