Ambrosia is tucked away between four skyscrapers in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. As you walk into the courtyard the first thing that catches your eye is the huge pool complete with palm trees, rocks, and color changing underwater lights. All over the courtyard are flowers and plants that will intrigue the guest as they walk up to the restaurant. Guest have to walk over a bridge to get to the inside. Once inside the décor changes from the courtyard/garden décor to more of a modern chic. The colors of bright golds, chocolates browns, and deep reds that all complement each other. Running right through the middle of the restaurant is a stream that flows into the pool outside. Ambrosia is an all dessert restaurant. We do serve wine and international cheeses also. The guest can get small platters of fruit as appetizers. The price goes anywhere from $8 for a chocolate covered strawberry platter to $50 for a prix-fixe which includes one international cheese of choice, one dessert of choice, and petite fours. Some of our dessert items include Chocolate Decadence, Poached Seasonal Fruit, Petite Fours (which include chocolate truffles, coconut macaroons, and house-made sea salt caramels), cheesecakes, and Deconstruction of Pecan Pie. My favorite is the ice cream tasting. This is where the guest can pick 6-8 different ice cream from a list to taste. All the ice cream used in the restaurant is homemade and some of the flavors include cheerwine, cream soda, boil peanut, regulars like chocolate and vanilla, green tea, and many more. Since the only thing that Ambrosia serves are desserts every employee that works in the back of the house must know all basics for pastry and have some knowledge of entremets. Front of the house staff must have knowledge of basic serving and dining room etiquette. Hiring is very strict and every employee must have a background check before starting work.
