Amusement Case

As a child we all see the advertisements on television or flyers as we walk down the street. Our hearts yearn for adrenaline from the roller coasters and mouths water for the food. Every childs dream is to go to an amusement park. I remember my first trip to Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee. Not knowing where we were going I remember the anxiety of the trip, my first taste of funnel cake, and the entertainment. As a seven year old child I was flabbergasted by all the exhilaration around me. I didn’t know what to think.
Going back to that day brings back so many good memories. It was back in 1995 I was seven years old. My cousin Deborah and I were very close almost like sister. We were together every chance we got. I had stayed the night with her not knowing the excitement that awaits us the next day. I remember waking up the next morning and being told to get dressed we were going to McDonalds. I was happy about that. What child doesn’t like McDonalds? As we neared McDonalds we didn’t slow down, automatically Deborah, Scotty, Bubba, and I all holler where are you going? I remember the chuckle my Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Marshall gave as they both said we are going to another McDonalds. All of us kids calmed down at that point. As we drove the ride got longer and longer. We never got a McDonalds stop. Not getting McDonalds was a cruel thing, until we drove up to the place we had dreamed of visiting on the television screen and flyers.
The sun is shining, and it’s a beautiful day. The line at the ticket booth was long. It seemed to have taken a life time to get into the park. All of our excitement is over flowing. We can hear the screams coming from the rides, smell the aroma of the food, and hear the entertainment. As we entered the park the first thing all of us kids wanted was food.
