BRICs includes Brazil, Russia, India, and China, which are countries experiencing rapid rise in economic growth and development. The popular debate is how China can be a threat to USA, however the task is focused on the developing world. A developing country is a nation or a sovereign state with a less developed industrial base and a low Human Development Index (HDI) relative to other countries. For example: Bahamas, Malaysia, and Vietnam. The rise of the BRICs can be both a threat and an opportunity for the rest of the developing world.
They can be a threat as they are undergoing huge and rapid industrialisation, by doing so; polluting the environment goes along the way eg.China. This is because manufacturing, which is a part of the production process requires energy. To gain enough energy, fossil fuel is the cheapest way, however burning increases the CO2 emission, which is the one of the causes of global warming that leads to climate change. Climate change then leads to sea-level rise, where even though the whole world is effected, but those with the worst effect from global warming is those low-income country (LICs). For example, Maldive and Bangladesh are both LICs that are located below the sea-level. Sub Saharan Africa countries are also greatly effected by global warming, as it leads to an increase in temperature, which encourage the spread of diseases and insect. The level of aids could also be falling as the power of G7 countries are replaced by the BRICs, however those emerging power countries have less tradition of giving out aids to LEDCs. But on the other hand, new aids could be agreed with the developing countries, which is a positive effect. By improving their military power and nuclear power, it can be a threat to the HICs such as USA, which could then leads to war tension. If war occur, there may be several negative consequences that will effect developing country near by.
