The Big Bang Theory episode starts off when Sheldon finds out his favorite show Alphas, which ended a cliff hanger, which means that he will not find out what will happen next. Amy believes Sheldon’s compulsive needs requires closure and wants him to overcome his issue. Meanwhile Raj is trying to become manlier after reading a blog by his crush. But really his sensitivity is the main reason why she likes Raj back. Unfortunately Sheldon doesn’t overcome his need for closure and Raj too doesn’t become this super masculine man he was aiming to become, which is typical of them.

A Defense Mechanism is how a person thinks of them and how he or she expresses that behavior. Each person has their own way in expressing internal conflict which leads to anxiety, centered to personality development. When a human is burdened with anxiety we find ways to overcome it, in every way. Freud has described them as unconscious tactics that our egos are used to protect from anxiety. For example Regression is defined as entering a stubborn childlike behavior and reacting as a child would do. For example a if I went to the candy store with my doctor and began choosing the candy of my desire and my doctor stops me and tells me I really shouldn’t be having any candy because of my high blood sugar, so then I react and yell at him and tell him that I can do what I want with my body. When my doctor tries to settle me down because everyone in the store stopped to look at us I begin to make a bigger scene by telling everyone that he isn’t fair and I begin to cry loudly in public. That will be throwing a tantrum an immature way of responding.
